Every Day is Book Lovers Day

I’m fortunate to have inherited my mother’s love for reading, and all things book related. Thanks to my lovely, neurodivergent brain, I always have several books going at once. I buy way too many. Some days I’m haunted by the thought of never finishing all the books I buy in one lifetime.

Every book lover knows the to-be-read pile will never end.

For an inveterate book lover like me, then, every day is Book Lovers Day. Technically speaking though, the “official”* Book Lovers Day was last week, August 9th. So, because I missed the day, consider this picture of Jennifer Lopez** looking studious in glasses and animal prints while reading Jacqueline Susann’s Valley of the Dolls my apology to the Book Gods.

To paraphrase a famous film line, I’ll read what she’s reading.

*Seeing as these “holidays” are made up by people who spend too much time online, take the “official” claim with a grain of salt.

**While this might be Jennifer Lopez’s first appearance at the Lounge, methinks she needs to become more of a regular around here. After all, three years ago I published an impassioned defense of J. Lo as part of Grumpire’s “In Defense of” series. Give it a read; you might enjoy it, especially if you too are old like me and first met Lopez when she was a Fly Girl on In Living Color.
