This week’s hot shots come from the publicity photos and poster for the excellent 1953 film noir, The Big Heat. The publicity shots are some of the most provocative of their era, with Gloria Grahame kneeling suggestively before Glenn Ford and his gun—clearly meant to stand in for his other piece, if you know what I mean, and I think you do. These hot shots bring some seriously Big Heat, indeed.

Great pictures that you provided as usual Michael 🙂 Gloria Grahame was very beautiful 🙂 I also am aware of that clever double entendre you provided 🙂 As you probably know, The Big Heat was one of German director Fritz Lang’s American films and while most of them were not grand like his German films, I truly believe that his American films were every bit as masterful in different ways 🙂 Now three questions:
Twin Peaks actress Sheryl Lee is turning 57 tomorrow – will you be doing a belated birthday post on her Wednesday? I am aware that Mondays are rightly dedicated to beautiful actresses whose first name begins with an M 🙂
Speaking of 1950’s cinema, I bet you are a huge fan of Alfred Hitchcock’s Vertigo, which I absolutely love 🙂 Didn’t Kim Novak look absolutely gorgeous in all of those outfits she wore? 🙂
Given that they were released the same year (1958 in this case), and stared the same two lead actors (James Stewart and Novak), I am betting that you (like I) would love to watch a double bill consisting of Vertigo and Richard Quine’s Bell, Book and Candle? 🙂

Ah yes, I love Bell, Book, and Candle as well. I just rewatched it a few months ago, in fact. And thank you for the reminder on Sheryl Lee’s birthday. I adore her, as you know. I revised an old post I once wrote about her, and I’ll be sharing it tomorrow, Tuesday, as a belated birthday celebration for Ms. Lee!
