For the tenth entry in the Julie London Calendar Series of 2023, we’ve finally reached your humble blogger’s favorite month of the year. Hello, October! My, how I’ve missed you so.
During “This October,” when Julie breathlessly sings, “What is more exciting than the crisp brisk weather in the fall,” I answer with an emphatic, “Nothing is more exciting than the crisp brisk weather in the fall!” Actually, that’s not entirely true. Julie London is as exciting as a beautiful autumn afternoon—plus she’s definitely sexier than even the sexiest weather pattern. As if you need proof of that after nine previous entries in the Calendar Girl series, but just in case, here’s more hard evidence:
“Sexy devil” costumes are a dime a dozen every Halloween, but most can’t rival the one worn by Julie London for this month’s pinup—because it’s worn by Julie Freaking London. Setting aside the Satanic vibes that the skimpy red outfit and goat horns are giving off, there’s a decidedly pagan feel to this shot. It’s so simple, just Julie and those legendary legs that go on forever, plus a massive Jack-o’-lantern (wearing a bow tie?), but it’s so evocative of that fabulous fall feeling that brings me joy every October. Go ahead, buy it on a t-shirt. You know you want to.
Between her smokey vocals on “This October” and her seductive pinup for the month, Julie London and everyone involved sure saved their best so far for the best month of the year.
