I’ve rhapsodized about Michelle as Melanie Parker in the delightful 1996 rom-com One Fine Day before. My friend Paul regularly rhapsodizes about her, too. Clearly, we have a thing for New York City architect and single mom Melanie. That’s not a surprise, given how we both feel about Michelle. As Melanie, Michelle channels the great screwball comedy stars of the past, while firmly rooting herself in the mid-‘90s milieu, where Melanie is a hardworking single mother just trying to do right by her son. She’s also a universal character in a lot of ways—what mother hasn’t felt like she’s never good enough, either as a mom or a working professional? Heck, what human being hasn’t felt that way?

So, not only is Melanie absurdly glamorous and startlingly sexy, she’s also highly relatable. All thanks to some good writing, terrific acting from Michelle, and as perfect a ‘90s bob hairstyle as the decade ever produced. Plus, has anyone looked better in a business suit-skirt combo?? Nope, never. And let’s not forget wearing her son’s dinosaur shirt. You catch my drift.
Special thanks to my friend Paul at Pfeiffer Pfilms and Meg Movies for a couple of these stunning screencaps.

Thanks for this post and the honourable mention, Melanie can brighten even the most miserable Monday. I’m flattered you’ve used those screen captures. They are a real labour of love for me. I’ve spent so many hours collating them, and looking at my media library probably 50% are of Michelle in One Fine Day!

OK Mikey baby, I get that you and Paul share some mutual admiration for Ms Parker, but when are we gonna see Maggie Monday here at The Starfire Lounge?
