Hot Shots of the Week: She Can Stowe-away Here Any Time

When I think of early ‘90s cinema, I can’t help but also think of the raven-haired beauty Madeleine Stowe. During those years, the actress was a frequent star of popular movies, most all of which I caught in theaters, from Last of the Mohicans (1992) to Unlawful Entry (1992) to Blink (1993) and beyond. Later, she had a career renaissance of sorts with the series Revenge (2011–2015). She was—and still is today—absolutely stunning. Enchanting, even. When she walks into a room, it’s guaranteed every head turns in her direction. Not only is she one of the most beautiful women these eyes have ever seen, she also brings an elegant sophistication to the screen whenever she appears. I will always have enormous crush on her.

I recently revisited Stowe’s neo-noir thriller China Moon. Filmed in 1991 but shelved until 1994, it costars the always excellent Ed Harris and a young Benicio Del Toro. For Madeleine fans, it’s a must-watch. Not only does she strip naked, but she also turns in a beautiful, vulnerable, and sexy performance. It’s a mostly overlooked film from the Golden Age of ‘90s neo-noir, and while it’s not one of the best, it’s worth a looksee—and trust me, you’ll do plenty of lookseeing at Madeleine Stowe. It’s impossible not to gawk whenever she appears.

One of Hollywood’s most breathtaking beauties turns 66 today. Happy birthday, Madeleine!
