Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about one of my favorite Michelle Pfeiffer comfort films, Into the Night (1985). Directed by John Landis and costarring Jeff Goldblum and a cast of thousands, including Dan Akroyd, David Bowie, a slew of respected veteran actors, dozens of memorable cameos by filmmaking friends of Landis, and even some Playboy Playmates, Into the Night turns forty on February 22. It’s one of my favorite “one crazy night” films (even though it really takes place over two nights), if not my #1 favorite such film, so I’d love to write a little celebration piece for its big anniversary. Stay tuned. In the meantime, here’s Michelle as gorgeous jewel smuggler Diana, who goes “into the night” across Los Angeles with Goldblum’s insomniac aerospace engineer Ed Okin on an adventure that neither will ever forget.

Michelle looked absolutely stunning with shorter hair, and in that “Thriller”-esque Michael Jackson red leather jacket—both were designed by the same costume designer, who happened to be Landis’s wife, Deborah Nadoolman. I should really save this trivia for that fortieth anniversary piece. I’ll shut up now and just let Michelle’s radiance do the rest of the talking. Speaking of radiance though, this is the rare movie where Michelle gets nekkid, albeit briefly. I know, I really buried the lede, didn’t I?
