I recently put my Michelle Pfeiffer fandom to use writing an eleven-page article for Cinema of the ‘80s magazine. To my ecstatic surprise, it’s the featured piece on the cover! There’s my name right beneath Michelle’s! I’m over the moon, honestly.

As the magazine covers all corners of cinema in the decade of the 1980s, my piece is an overview of Michelle’s ‘80s output. Once I realized how perfectly Michelle’s career arc happened that decade, all the pieces for the article just fell into place. Her film career kicked off in 1980, with The Hollywood Knights and reached peak critical acclaim with 1989’s The Fabulous Baker Boys. In ten short years, she went from mostly unknown 22 year old actress to two-time Oscar nominated superstar.

I’m incredibly excited to be published in Cinema of the ‘80s! The editors packed the article full of great images from all of Michelle’s ‘80s movies, too. It looks amazing. I’m already contemplating ideas for more articles for the magazine, and for their sister publication Cinema of the ‘70s. Writing a retrospective on Michelle Pfeiffer in the ‘80s is going to be a hard one for me to top, though. This one’s special.

Cinema of the ‘80s issue #3 is available for purchase worldwide through Amazon. So wherever you are, you should be able to get a copy. Here’s a link to the US Amazon order page. Besides my humble contribution, there are some other terrific articles in this issue on favorites of mine like Ms. 45 and Midnight Run. While you’re there, pick up a few other issues of Cinema of the ‘80s and Cinema of the ‘70s too. You’ll be supporting the hard work of Dawn and Jonathan Dabell, who gather all of our contributor pieces and put the magazine together, plus all of the amazing writers that I’m so honored to be published alongside. Some of them are friends too.
So, if you love Michelle, or you love cinema—and, really, you should love both—get your copies now, and enjoy!
