A popular pinup girl in her day, the Minneapolis-born Chili Williams would still likely be categorized as a minor bombshell. Her film career lasted less than a decade—which certainly wasn’t uncommon for minor bombshells of the 1940s and 1950s—but she earned everlasting fame as “The Polka-Dot Girl” after a photo of her sporting a polka-dotted bikini appeared in LIFE magazine in 1943. Who doesn’t love a girl in patterns?

Beyond being known for looking smoking hot in polka-dots, minor bombshell Chili (né Marian Sorenson) got caught up in a few minor scandals—being caught naked with her photographer earlier Moran when Earl’s wife walked in on them, and getting arrested for breaking into an ex-boyfriend’s apartment. These “scandals” just make her hotter in our minds, but sadly her film career collapsed. She left show biz for a quiet life, married with two kids, before passing away in 2003. We know she wasn’t a major bombshell of her era, but Chili sure was hot AF, and for that reason we’re sharing some of her gorgeous pinup work today. She’s definitely one of our favorite, underrated pinup babes of her era.

Hairstyles of the 40s/50s really ran the gamut, didn’t they. Some were quite flattering while others are follicular catastrophes.
