Back in the 1950s, shoe polish brand Griffin Microsheen went all in on the old adage that sex sells. In this series of ads featuring beautiful women marveling at that snazzy Microsheen shine, you’d be hard-pressed to notice anything related to the product, thanks to the leggy, busty, and scantily clad babes. Each ad seems to not-so-subtly hint at a sexual payoff for fellas who shine their shoes with Microsheen. Blatantly suggestive ads like this were de rigeur back then, but few did it as gratuitously as Griffin Microsheen.

I just have to wonder how sales were under this campaign. Did it really improve, or were the marketing boys just getting to have the time of their lives on the company dime?
