In which Michelle Pfeiffer spreads ‘em for posterity.
Last year, I highlighted a particularly funny and memorable scene in Amy Heckerling’s wonderful I Could Never Be Your Woman (2007), starring Our Queen and Savior, Michelle Pfeiffer. As I wrote then,
Television writer Rosie (Pfeiffer) is stuck next to two condescending and judgmental studio executives while waiting for her boss at the network. The two men are viciously picking apart the physical aspects of various actresses, including Meg Ryan and Kim Basinger. As she listens in silence, steam practically starts shooting out of Rosie’s ears. Finally, she verbally blasts them up one side and down the other for discussing these actresses in such a degrading manner.
I also pointed out that it’s also a fine showcase for Michelle’s legendary legs, which are on full, glorious display throughout the scene. In fact, not only are we treated to her scintillating stems in sheer black tights, but when she turns to lay into the obnoxious executives she spreads her legs open and flashes us her undergarments! As you might imagine, Michelle’s filmography is relatively light on upskirt shots, so this scene has been arduously studied and analyzed by pfans, over and over. Like the final fight scene in Wolf (1994), it’s basically the Zapruder film for Pfeifferologists. I thank the stars above for pause, rewind, slow-motion!l, and zoom!
