Late Night Memories: Help Me Rhonda

Everyone’s favorite late night date Rhonda Shear didn’t just appear on our TV screens in our homes every Friday night hosting USA Up All Night. No, Rhonda also put her rockin’ body to work modeling, both before and after she shot to fame as the B-movie host with the most. Before Up All Night, Rhonda won beauty pageants in her home state of Louisiana and modeled, all while taking roles in television sitcoms and low budget films.

Rhonda also did a lot of modeling in publicity shots for Up All Night during her decade of hosting the show. USA knew what side their bread was buttered on, and knew that a large audience was tuning in primarily to gawk and drool over Rhonda’s shapely body and ample assets. We could always count on to Rhonda to sport silky smooth nylons and heels, whether wearing a body-hugging tube dress or just the skimpiest, sexiest Frederick’s of Hollywood lingerie she had lying around in the drawer. If a Hosiery Hall of Fame existed—outside of the one that absolutely exists inside my mind—then Rhonda would be one of the very first inductees. She was a champion of pantyhose for her entire career. Not only did she wear them all the time, but she (and the producers) made sure to show her legs off on camera during Up All Night as much as possible. It was enough to give a young fan like me a heart attack every Friday night. Yowza.
