With Academy Award nominations being announced soon, it seems like a good time to revisit a performance that was unfairly snubbed at the 61st Oscar ceremony in 1989.

And if they ever ask about me, tell them I was more than just a great set of boobs.

I was also an incredible pair of legs.

And tell them… tell them that I never turned down a friend.

I… never turned down a stranger for that matter.

And tell them… tell them that when all is said and done, I only ask that people remember me by two simple words.
[stops to think]

Any two, as long as they’re simple.

And that, my friends, was one of the greatest speeches in cinema history, from one of my favorite movies of all time, Elvira: Mistress of the Dark (1988). This was Cassandra Peterson’s Oscar worthy moment. Well, this and the scene where she uses her “great set of boobs” to bust through the chain on a cemetery gate.

I digress. The point here is that if there was any justice in this world she’d have a little, naked, gold man on her mantle. Oh well. We know she deserved it.
Elvira winning an Oscar would be a treat for sure, only a handful of actresses today are worthy of the award today. The last worthy winner for me was Renee Zellweger for playing Judy Garland.
