Michelle Monday: Wolf at 30

One of my favorite Michelle Pfeiffer pfilms, Wolf, opened thirty years ago today, June 17, 1994.

Wow. I swear to you, it was yesterday. There I sat, in a crowded theater, gazing upward, spellbound by Michelle’s utterly luminous visage. I was transfixed, residing firmly under her spell for the entire two hours, while my buddy complained that there wasn’t any gore, before nodding off (apparently, he was expecting a Howling sequel). Didn’t matter to me, I had Michelle all to myself…well, besides the other people sitting in the dark with me. Michelle is always stunning, but in Wolf her beauty is even more mesmerizing than usual. It was a gift to witness this radiance at the cinema, in 1994.

Michelle’s performance as Laura Alden immediately became one of my favorites of hers, which is still true to this day. I’ve written at length about Michelle as Laura and the film itself, but suffice it to say, I love both the film and Michelle’s work in it more than mere words can say.

I watch it Wolf at least once a year, and sometimes multiple times per year—like this year, when I’ll be watching again tonight for the thirtieth anniversary.

Jack gets it.
