Bombshells: Alexandra Bastedo

While English actress Alexandra Bastedo (1946–2014) really burst onto the scene after the heyday of the Blonde Bombshell in cinema, we all know the Blonde Bombshell never really went away. Survey any point in cinematic history and you’ll find scads of bodacious blondes lighting up movie screens with their incandescent beauty. Speaking of incandescence, Bestado was positively luminous.

Sweet baby Jesus, those chiseled cheekbones! Those bedroom eyes! Those luscious legs and dangerous curves! Fans across Europe dubbed her “La Bastedo” and her astonishing beauty simply radiated forth in every role she took during the 1960s and 1970s. A favorite of mine would have to be her take on the famous lesbian vampire Carmilla in the 1972 flesh and gore classic, The Blood Spattered Bride (also one of Quentin Tarantino’s favorites). The erotic, atmospheric, and languidly paced Spanish horror affords Bastedo plenty of opportunity to showcase those chiseled cheekbones, bedroom eyes, luscious legs, and dangerous curves. There’s even a scene where the hapless male protagonist stumbles upon Bastedo’s Mircalla (an anagram for Carmilla) buried in the sand (don’t ask; this movie is wonderfully nutty). He proceeds to wipe away sand, only to reveal her perfect, bare breasts and pert nipples!

I mean, dude did what anyone would if they stumbled upon stark-naked Alexandra Bastedo buried under sand.

Here are some more lovely snapshots of the stunning English Rose, Alexandra Bastedo.
