Bonus Hot Shots of the Week: Theresa Randle

My love for lingerie-clad Theresa Randle adjusting her stockings and garter belts in Abel Ferrara’s King of New York has been documented before. So pardon me if I’m repeating myself, but that moment is one of the hottest four or five seconds ever committed to celluloid. I rewound and paused the VHS tape at that exact moment countless times in my misspent youth. The way she delicately adjusts those stockings is simply the epitome of sensuality, captured lovingly (and lasciviously) by Ferrara.

King of New York was my introduction to the alluring Randle, who then went on to wow me in several ‘90s films like Jungle Fever, Malcolm X, Sugar Hill, Bad Boys, and Girl 6, to name a few. Randle was a total smokeshow and an engaging actress to watch onscreen. She was one of those welcoming faces—and bodies—in ‘90s cinema for me.

Girl 6 gave her a starring role, which she nailed, in my estimation. Sadly though, her career cooled off big time after the millennium, and since then her screen work has been sporadic, at best. Rumors floated around online that she’s been having health issues, but nothing’s confirmed. Whatever the reason, it’s too bad we haven’t seen much of her in a while, as she was a double threat: stone cold fox and an engaging screen presence. Can never have enough of those around, that’s for sure.

  1. I am a huge fan of just about every film Abel Ferrara directed 🙂 Did you know that he directed the pilot episode of Crime Story? 🙂 I was aware that he directed some episodes of Miami Vice as well 🙂 Also, I left a reply under your recent Halloween post 🙂
