Look, let’s be real. We’re not normally operating on the cutting edge of current culture here at the Starfire Lounge. No, instead, we’re usually digging up tasty nuggets from pop cultures past, basking in the warm, and slightly musty-smelling, afterglow of that thing called “nostalgia.” It’s the fuel that keeps our particular brand of vehicle motoring along.

Before I badly mix any more metaphors, the whole point here is to say that today’s post comes courtesy of pop chanteuse Sabrina Carpenter’s forthcoming record, Man’s Best Friend. Sabrina just announced said album this past week, when she also revealed what appears to be the album cover (see above). It features a submissive Sabrina, in a tight black minidress, sheer black tights, and black stiletto heels, down on her knees, while the man standing above her pulls her hair—and her—towards his groin. Iggy Pop might wanna be your dog, but Sabrina’s ready to fight for that bone, ahem. To say this album cover is HOT—all caps and bold!—would seriously understate matters. Yowza, Sabrina is coming for you, and you best believe she’s hungry.

Some online pundits have called the image “regressive,” and to that we respond, “If this is regressive, then call us regressive and throw us on the floor and make us write a bad check.” Sabrina is bringing the heat, and igniting (mostly male) fantasies all across the globe, thanks to this album cover. We’re old fogies, so we don’t really know a lot of her songs, but we’ve long enjoyed her eye candy appeal. She’s a First Class Babe.

So, consider this post your current update on the state of the modern pop culture-verse. We will return to your regularly scheduled blast of nostalgia next time.

Hmmm, another one from the Disney child actress stable or maybe that should be be kennel?
