We’re really happy with how this year’s Christmas card came out. Bettie Page was kind of enough to model for us, and smart enough to know if she posed in the nude we’d triple her paycheck and give her a free lunch. Everyone left happy that day, but no one more so than those of us behind the camera. Bettie sure jingled our bells that day, if you know what we mean, and we think you do.
Kidding aside, this iconic shot of Bettie in the buff trimming the tree was taken by Bettie’s frequent photographer Bunny Yeager in 1954. Bunny sent the photos from this session to Hugh Hefner, who was starting up a new magazine you might’ve heard of, and who smartly used one of the photos for the centerfold of the second issue. That magazine? Well, Playboy, of course.
