It’s not often that Halloween and Friday the 13th happen in the same month, but that’s exactly what we’re getting this October. This is as good as it gets for horror junkies. So, in honor of today being Friday the 13th, let’s take a look back to Friday, November 13th, 1992, when USA Up All Night aired a Friday the 13th film marathon and Jason Voorhees paid a visit to host Rhonda Shear’s boudoir.
Stop me if you’ve heard a similar story from me before, but I was lucky enough to have no social life to speak of yet in 1992, so I watched this episode live as it aired. Rhonda hosting any films was always a big deal, but that night’s selections came from one of my favorite horror franchises.
Sure, it was two of the lesser entries in the series, Part V: A New Beginning and Part VII: The New Blood, but that was fine. As I wrote several years ago when I ran the franchise again, all eight of the Friday the 13th films from the 1980s are absurdly rewatchable.
On that night in ‘92, the added bonus was watching them with Rhonda, the “Golden Goddess of the Airwaves.” Y’all know how important Rhonda was to my early- to mid-teen years, right? I mean, it’s not like I’ve gushed about it ad nauseam before, or anything. Ahem.
There were so many highlights to love during Rhonda’s interstitial segments that Friday the 13th in 1992, so here are just a few of them.

One of the great running bits on Up All Night was the nicknames Rhonda would use for herself. That Friday the 13th she went all in with the following sensational sobriquets: your snuggle buddy, your nighttime nibble, your goddess of good times, your midnight muffin, your cuddly couch companion, your Hollywood honey, your tantalizing temptress, and your late night date. Is it any wonder we nineties degenerates loved Rhonda with the passionate intensity of a thousand burning suns?
