In which we sing the praises of B-movie Bombshell Allison Hayes.

In the late 1950s, if you needed a voluptuous, sexy, and beautiful Bombshell to headline your science fiction or horror B movie, you could do no better than Allison Hayes, born May Jane Hayes in West Virginia in 1930. The auburn-haired smokeshow was intensely sexy onscreen and in her pinup modeling. In 1957 alone, Hayes brought her sensuous talents to several cult classics: The Undead, The Zombies of Mora Tau, The Unearthly, and The Disembodied. The following year she starred in the film that would be her signature role, in the cult classic Attack of the 50 Foot Woman. She can attack us any day, and twice on Sundays!

Hayes was absolutely gorgeous, with chiseled cheekbones, plump and sensual lips, sexy come-hither eyes, and a body that simply wouldn’t—and couldn’t—quit. She had a sultry, charismatic presence onscreen, which along with that jaw-dropping body made it impossible not to give her all your attention whenever she graced a scene. And, of course, her pinup work was scorching hot.

Allison Hayes died far too young in 1977, at only 46 years old, but her legacy as one of the great B-movie Bombshells remains intact all these years later.

She’s surprisingly good in 50-Foot Woman — better than the movie deserves.

Smokeshow is a new term to me, it’s certainly appropriate when applied to Allison!
