Not only is the late horror maestro Wes Craven one of my favorite directors, but I’m also a huge fan of several of his films’ posters. A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984), A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors (1987), and Swamp Thing (1982) are all aces in my book.* Today I’m celebrating one of Craven’s lesser celebrated films, the rural religious/supernatural slasher Deadly Blessing (1981). Notable for featuring Sharon Stone in her first costarring role, scenery chewing acting from Ernest Borgnine, and themes of religious fanaticism and family secrets, Deadly Blessing is both eerie and silly, making for an entertaining and never-dull ride.

The poster is a stone cold classic, in my estimation. Sexy and spooky, featuring a beautiful woman with eye-popping cleavage in some sort of danger, it captures one of the movie’s most memorable scenes and makes for a teasing invitation to a film that deserves a lot more love than it gets. Check it out someday, then thank me later.
*Don’t be surprised if you see these one or more of these Craven film posters return for future posts.
