Bombshells: Kathleen Hughes

It’s always sad to lose another classic Hollywood Bombshell, and last week we did just that, as the beautiful Kathleen Hughes passed away at 96 years old. That’s a good, long life, and she leaves behind an absolutely iconic image of herself, one that’s been used on everything from greetings cards to hummus ads. The … Continue reading Bombshells: Kathleen Hughes →

Lost and Found: Doppelganger

In which Drew Barrymore singlehandedly puts the “erotic” in this forgotten erotic thriller. A neglected erotic thriller that got lost in the glut of the 1990s erotic thriller boom, Doppelganger (1993) comes courtesy of writer-director Avi Nesher, of such acclaimed films as She (1982), Time Bomb (1991) and Raw Nerve (2000). Adapted by Michelle’s hubby David E. Kelley from a play, Gillian centers on a father (Peter Gallagher) and daughter (Claire Danes) still struggling to process … Continue reading To Michelle on Her 67th Birthday →

Catwoman debuted in Batman #1, which went on sale April 25, 1940. That means our favorite feline fatale turns 85 this week. Amazingly, she still doesn’t look a day over 30 because, kids, comics! “I am Catwoman…hear me roar.” I love almost every incarnation of Selina Kyle as Catwoman, from comics to screen, over those … Continue reading Michelle Monday →
