Slow Ride, Take It Easy

As 2024 draws to a close, I’m really running out of steam. A while back, I wrote about how blogging so regularly was becoming exhausting. Well, since then I’ve only posted more. I’m up to 20–23 posts per month lately. It’s become too much of a chore to meet the weekly and monthly goals I set for this site, though. Last time I was sort of dancing around taking a break, but now I think it’s time I actually ease off the gas a bit and just do it. If I truly do reduce the time I spend trying to meet arbitrary posting goals, then maybe I’ll free up time and headspace to actually write some more stuff that doesn’t feel like an obligation.

English television presenter Holly Willoughby.

That’s the thing. I make zero money here. I know I could do the affiliate thing and rake in the pennies and, if I’m lucky, nickels, but that isn’t particularly appealing to me. So, in order to make running the Starfire Lounge feel less like a job and more like an escape from obligations, slowing down is really the best option. I think it’ll recharge my batteries and refresh the place.

Just in case it needs to be said, I’ll say it: this is not the end of the blog! Instead of putting the pedal to the metal though, I’m going to ease off a bit and just coast along for the foreseeable future. Slow ride, take it easy. Who knows if this will last a few weeks, or months, or more. Hopefully, through it all, you’ll continue to stop by and see if and when I post. Sorry for cutting back, but it feels like the best, most sane option available.

Now, do I actually have the willpower to slow down and give myself a break? That, my friends, is the $64,000 question. Taking a break and hopping off the hamster wheel is probably easier said than done when your neurodivergent brain is always churning out blog post ideas (I just want to tell it to shut up sometimes, honestly). Time will tell, right?

  1. It’s a right attitude to not burn out yourself, take it easy, easy living, easy way, having time for yourself, to me that sounds good. I have liked your posts 😊 Have a relaxing weekend 👍 Stay cool!
