It’s time for another not-so-random Random Image Dump, and I guess my Italian heritage is shining through today. Not only that, but June 2 was Festa della Reppublica, the annual commemoration of post-fascism, universal suffrage Italy, since 1946. Appropriately then, this outing is all about celebrating something else uniquely Italian: famous Italian bella donnas. Here’s a robust gallery of Italian movie stars, singers, dancers, television presenters, and activists. There’s a mother-daughter acting duo, and even a politician in the bunch. The talent assembled here is astronomical, and the personalities are often vibrant and full of life. I don’t know who said it first, but this quote sums up why people all over the world love Italian women: “A passionate Italian woman is worth all the chaos.”
Gina Lollobrigida: one of the very best Italian actresses, she also had a second career as a photojournalist. Claudia Cardinale: Italian film acting royalty. Raffaella Carrà: energetic singer, dancer, actress, television presenter, and model. Ornella Muti: actress who made her English-speaking film debut as Princess Aura in Flash Gordon (1980). Virna Lisi: long considered one of the greatest Italian film actresses. Edwige Fenech: French-Italian actress, producer, and cult legend, thanks to her work in the giallo and commedia sexy all’italiana (sex comedy) genres. Carmen Russo: model, showgirl, television personality, dancer, dance teacher, singer, and actress known for her roles in the commedia sexy all’italiana genre. Monica Vitti: forever known as “the Queen of Italian Cinema.” Michela Vittoria-Brambilla: proof positive that even Italian politicians are è molto bella. 🤌🤌🤌🤌Sophia Loren: acting legend and iconic sex symbol. Monica Bellucci: the modern day equivalent of the great golden age Italian movie stars. Daria Nicolodi: actress and writer, most famous for her work in the Italian horror and giallo film genres. Asia Argento: actress and daughter of Nicolodi and Italian horror maestro Dario Argento. Sabrina Salerno: singer, songwriter, record producer, glamour model, actress, and television presenter.
Great post Michael 🙂 OMG where do I begin 🙂 I love all of these Italian actresses/Icons 🙂 I could probably write a blog entry on all of these wonderful women, but I want to single out Monica Vitti because she happens to be in quite a few of my favorite Michelangelo Antonioni films – L’Avventura, La Notte, L’Eclisse and Red Desert 🙂 That last one was Antonioni’s first film shot in color 🙂
