I once referred to the late, great, polish-born actress and writer Ingrid Pitt as the High Priestess of Horror. The curvaceous beauty with the seductive accent has been referred to by many sobriquets: England’s Scream Queen, the Queen of Gothic Horror, the Queen of Hammer Horror, etc. Even though Ingrid only made a few horror films in the early seventies, she left an indelible impression on the genre and its fans. She looms over most horror hotties of the era, and beyond, thanks to her delicious performances in several vampire roles. Lusty, busty, and oozing uninhibited European sensuality, Pitt is an iconic sex symbol to fans of seventies horror.
In honor of this amazing woman—who escaped Nazi-occupied Poland as a child and later wrote a memoir and a historical guide to vampire lore—let’s celebrate the Samhain season with a super-sized photographic tribute to one of the most stunningly sexy movie stars of all time.
